"If she saw me out of the corner of her eyes she gave no hint of it-indeed I was almost surprised into murmuring an apology for having disturbed her by coming in" Page 13
ReplyDeleteThis quote shows that Jordan is very snobby. She doesn't even acknowledge Nick as he enters the room and is positioned in a way where she makes herself seem like she is better than everyone else. The fact that he almost apoligized for entering the room makes her seem very stuck up. This quote makes me think that Jordan is a stuck up snob.

"The younger of the two was a stranger to me. She was extended full length at her end of the divan, completely motionless and with her chin raised a little as if she were balancing something on it which was quite likely to fall. If she saw me out of the corner of her eyes she gave no hint of it-indeed I was almost suprised into murmuring an apology for having disturbed her by coming in." (pg. 13)
ReplyDeleteThis quote shows that Jordan was snobby person. She was too good to show emotion to another person, and makes other people around her feel uncomfortable. She does not care about others, which could mean that she is also vain in a way. I think that either this will continue throughout the novel, or that she will realize what she is doing and change her ways.
-Ed
"She was a slender, small breasted girl with erect cage, which she was accentuated by her throwing her body backward like a credit" (p.11)
ReplyDeleteAnalysis: Nick is sort of seeing this tom boy or boyish kind of look to Jordan. Jordan seems to have a lack of common courtesy.Which is shown when she doesnt acknowledge that Nick is present.
"her grey eyes looked back at me with a discontented face" (p. 11)
